has come to the Keys for what they intended to be a short stay, but
the sun and the sea and the rum and the slow pace got to them, and
today they ride a bike to their job as a bartender on Duval Avenue
in Key West. Or they drive the Conch Train. Or they captain the party
catamaran to nightly sunsets. They manage small art galleries. They
run open-air restaurants where Jimmy Buffet music spills onto the
street all day and all night. They enter Hemingway-look-alike contests.
They don’t wear shoes and they don’t even know what pantyhose
are. They don’t take life too seriously. And they’ll be
happy to see you when you arrive . . . if you dare !
