Tropical
Sanibel Island is unlike any other Florida destination. Nearly half
of the island has been preserved for wildlife habitat, and development
has been so restricted that visitors and residents alike are loving
a life with dark, star-filled skies, countless birds and animals,
no high-rises and no stop lights. Sanibel is world-famous for the
vast number of seashells on its beaches. Extremely laid-back, the
island has 17 miles of bike paths, golf, tennis, watersports and fine
dining (jackets not required). Sanibels sister island of Captiva
offers nightly sunset and is the gateway to other barrier islands.
The islands enjoy the best winter temperatures in the country; summers
are hot and breezy.
